Hair can get dried out and damaged from the use of heat styling tools, dyes, chemical straighteners, and exposure to the sun. You may want to restore your hair’s moisture and body with a high-quality deep conditioning treatment. With the aid of a great conditioner, you can repair your gorgeous locks in no time. I teamed up with Nexxus New York Salon Care to dish on how I deep condition my hair.
First thing’s first, choose a treatment that’s right for your hair type. I aim toward products that seal in moisture, deep condition and add shine. I also am a huge fan of products that contain a lot of protein such as the Nexxus Humectress Caviar Complex.
Your first step is to wash your hair using a gentle shampoo that won’t strip your hair. Avoid shampoos which are abrasive cleaning agents that cleanse hair of its natural oils and lead to dryness and breakage. I started off by using Nexxus Therappe Caviar Complex Shampoo which is silicone free.
Let the product set in. Deep conditioning treatments require at least 5-10 minutes to get to the core of each strand of your hair. Check the instructions on the product you are using, as some may suggest being left on longer, but most should work in 30 minutes or less. I like to lock in the moisture by covering the head with a plastic cap while the conditioner is working.
Rinse out the product. Remove the shower cap and rinse your hair with cool water, which will tighten the hair shaft and make it look shiny. After rinsing, dry your hair with a microfiber towel to reduce frizz.
Add Nexxus Diametress Headdress Leave in conditioner which contains green tea. Air dry and then style as usual. Your hair should be bouncy, glossy and well-conditioned. Tip: Wait a few days before shampooing your hair, so that you don’t negate the effects of the conditioning treatment by washing it out.
