Clearing Hyper – Pigmentation With SkinMedica

There were so many changes that happened with my body during my pregnancy especially with my skin. I never remembered a shift in my skin during my first pregnancy but they definitely started when I was pregnant with Rio! I have hyperpigmented skin which is a common, usually harmless condition in which patches of the skin become darker in color than the normal surrounding skin. This darkening occurs when an excess of melanin, the brown pigment that produces normal skin color, forms deposits in the skin.

I’ve been looking for a product that could help diminish the appearance of skin discoloration without containing harmful ingredients that could affect me during my pregnancy which is when I started using the product. I teamed up with SkinMedica to dish about their new 2.0 LYTERA pigment correction serum. I love this product and wanted to chat on my experience thus far.

Pigment Correcting

LYTERA contains ingredients that help balance pigment levels that exfoliate the skin without visible peeling. LYTERA has been clinically proven to work in as little as two weeks. I have been using it for a few weeks and have seen a visible differences such as smaller amounts of pigmented skin. I have also noticed that immediately after applying at night it gives my skin a plumper more defined look. I’m not sure if that’s one of their side effects but I love it and wish the plump effect in my laugh lines would stay longer.

My Skin Routine

I use LYTERA in the evenings and do not use toner on the same days. Since I use apple cider vinegar as a toner, the acidity is too much for my skin and will strip the natural oils. Instead I swap the homemade toner and use my pigment correcting serum instead. If using during the day, make sure not to skip the SPF, I personally wear sun protection of  SPF 50 or higher.

I’m a huge fan of essential oils that get below the surface of the skin. After using LYTERA, I lather my face with favorite antioxidant oils such as jojoba and vitamin E oil to soothe fine line and wrinkles while the LYTERA combats my skin discoloration.

Pigment Correcting

So far this product is working out well and contains a lot of plant based products which is important to me. I want to keep you all posted on the progress of my skin especially because I just had the baby my skin will completely change again so stay tune on my Instagram stories (@ScoutFashion) and I will dish about my process.

Can you share what brands you use for Jojoba oil & Vitamin E?

Hi Lily! I don’t use a specific brand. Usually I just buy whatever has great reviews on Amazon!
