Stress-Free Weekend Activities For Kids

Weekend Plans

We’re finally back from Europe and I’m so excited to be home except for I’m home alone with both kids this week. This is the first time alone with both children for an extended period of time but I have to make the best out of it since my husband is traveling. I decided that we should keep it local this weekend and scout out some of our favorite things to do in Brooklyn. Since it’s Labor Day weekend we went off to Jane’s Carousel as a family to let Rio ride the carousel for the first time! The whole experience was great until I had a diaper leak situation and a 5-year-old doing the pee-pee dance. There’s nothing worse than having to find a clean public bathroom that has a changing table and a clean toilet. London is still too short to squat so I’m stuck lining the toilet for her.  If you have to the same #MomProblem as I then I have a great tip for you! Charmin created an app by the name of SitOrSquat which can help you find public restrooms near you or where you’re planning to travel. The map results are based on location as well as travel time and details, which are super convenient! The app allows you to get interactive by adding public restrooms to the database and you can also rate restrooms. If you choose “sit”, it means you enjoyed the bathroom and “squat” means it could be better. I found the app to be extremely useful especially with the pictures function, which shows you what the bathroom looks like. This is a great app to have during a holiday weekend. You can download it here and I hope it helps you as much as it helps us!

Other things that we enjoyed this weekend we’re going for ice cream, playing in the park and stopping by the Children’s Museum. London’s obsessed with the small-market that they have inside the museum and it allows you to be a cashier or a customer that comes equipped with shopping carts and fake food, what kid doesn’t love that! This will be a pretty laid back weekend for us considering we just came home from a month long trip so I need everything to be stress-free! Here is a list of places in Brooklyn that the kids will love.

Have a blast!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This app sounds genius! I have twin 6-year-old girls and taking them to public restrooms can be the most exhausting part of my day. We were just in NY for Labor Day. We took the twins to the US Open for the first time (we’re big tennis fans) and they loved it. We also got to show them some of our favorite NY spots. We didn’t make it over to Brooklyn, but this list will be perfect when we do. Thanks for sharing and have a lovely day.

XOXO, Amy @ Jeans and a Tea
