Bonjour mes amies! Last week, London and I were really craving some baguettes and brie, so we decided to zip across the pond to Paris…just kidding. Most of you saw from my Instagram that we were really in LA, but if you weren’t such a super sleuth, this backdrop might have had you fooled. Our hotel was next door to this picturesque alleyway, which raises the question: did we stumble upon the alley in our outfits, or did we match our outfits to the alley? Ah, but those are behind the scenes secrets.
Hats are coming back in a big way this season, and one of my favorite trends is the beret. I decided to get myself one in classic black, and I snagged a fierce red version for my mini-me. Parisians seem to have discovered the perfect ratio for minimal fuss and maximum elegance. We decided to try this ourselves by styling neutrals and subtle prints with simple separates. Oh, and of course we said “oui” to a burst of color.
Menswear has been inching its way into women’s wear this year, and these gray and black checked trousers definitely give off some old school grandfather vibes. I love that trousers are so versatile: you can dress them up with a blouse and heels, or keep it real with sneaks and tee. I hit a happy medium with a simple white cotton tee and a piece I’ve been pining after for while – some fiery red boots. The low, kitten heel makes them easy to walk in, and I love the pointy toe. My glasses rounded out the look (get it?) with some retro vibes.

LS sported a delicate, frilly white blouse with a hint of black trim around the collar and cuffs. This flecked charcoal gray shirt blends a menswear pattern into a feminine silhouette. London wore one of her favorite shoes, leather Gucci slides, and of course, her sassy red beret completed the ensemble.

If you and your mini-me want to play off the hat trend, berets are a chic and fun option. As Audrey Hepburn said, “Paris is always a good idea.” And when you can’t physically get yourself to Paris, why not bring a little of Paris into your wardrobe?
