Haven’t you heard? The puffier the better.
Okay, so I’m not exactly talking about post-Thanksgiving bellies, even though it would be fantastic if puffy stomachs were trending for a while. You know, at least until the leftovers are gone. What I am talking about is the coat trend that’s been dominating shelf space in every store you walk into.
The puffer jacket.
What I love about this trend is that it’s so practical, but the print and color options are endless. Puffers are warm without being too heavy. In my opinion, they give off more of a sporty aesthetic, which makes them fun to style. Pair with sneakers for angsty, tomboy moods or with heels and a glam shoulder bag for some contrast. I had to snag one for both myself and my mini so we could hit the streets in voluminous style.
I bought London a fun, metallic pink puffer jacket from H&M. It’s perfect for a little ballet-loving princess-enthusiast if you happen to have one in the house. She can wear it to school during the relentless New York winter and also for some snowman fun if we take a trip out of the city this season. I styled it with some black skinny jeans and sparkly Golden Goose sneaks. And I put my John Lennon lenses on her to see if she could rock them. She did.

I decided to play with prints by going for a bold, patterned puffer in a bright yellow color. If you live in jeans, you won’t have any trouble with color coordination in a wild coat like this. I paired it with dark wash skinny jeans (similar) and over the knee heeled boots (similar). You could also style it with relaxed denim, a graphic tee, and sneakers for a casual weekend look.

There are so many outerwear options to choose from, but if you’re a fashionista or have a little one in tow, the puffer coat is a trendy, practical option this winter. I’ve linked some of my favorites for moms and little girls above. Hope you find one that makes you feel fabulous (aka the opposite way a post-Thanksgiving food coma does).
