One great thing about New York life is that I normally get to see the city cycle through all four seasons. When it’s time to flip my closet for the winter, I also like to bring out some new beauty products so I can freshen up my everyday makeup look as well. One of my favorite ways to step up my beauty routine is by trying a fresh new lip color.
This season, it’s all about the bold, berry lip.
You can let your lip color steal the spotlight by keeping the rest of your makeup simple with foundation and a swipe of mascara. Or if you want to have a dramatic beauty moment, doll up your eyes with some shimmery eyeshadow, liner, and mascara, and add a little blush to your cheeks. No matter how you wear it, berry lips are the cherry (berry?) on top of your winter look. Here are four shades that are currently in my makeup bag.
This hue is a glamorous mix of pink and burgundy that leaves your lips looking polished. The metallic matte finish is equal parts sophisticated and sexy plus it’s perfect for the holiday season. I’m a big fan of Stila lip products because they’re paraben free and contain hydrating oils, but still add the pop of color you need to complete your look. P.S. this is on sale now!
The Stila Liquid Lipstick has a weightless finish while still delivering full color. I love the Magenta Plum shade for days at the office followed by happy hour drinks with the hubby. It’s a bright, refreshing magenta shade that makes your whole face a little more vibrant. I also love that it contains vitamin E and avocado oil to hydrate during wear!
The Mac Vampify Lipgloss swipes on easily, leaving lips with a silky, glistening finish. The Peer Pressure shade is a deep magenta that hovers on the edge of a purple. If you’re feeling a little vampy, this lustrous berry color will definitely turn heads.
If you’re no stranger to bold trends, this just might be your lipgloss soulmate. This is one of the darkest shades I own, and every time I put it on I feel my inner diva coming out. It’s a deeper purple-y shade, which is fabulous for holiday events and evening wear. The Acrylip allows you to adjust the richness of the color based on how much you apply. So you can start out with a light layer and ease your way into becoming your alter ego. Helloooo Sasha Fierce.
Have fun trying out these berry lip shades this winter, ladies! Being bold is always a win in my book, whether we’re talking lip colors or life choices.
