This time of year always makes me a little nostalgic for Christmases when I was growing up. I remember the way it felt to lay around in my pajamas, watching Christmas movies and eating popcorn, bursting with anticipation at the thought of Christmas morning. Everyone slowed down more and more as the holiday drew closer. School was out, lounging around the house was acceptable, and Santa was coming.
Now I get to re-experience the buzz of Christmas through my kids’ eyes. It’s Rio’s very first Christmas and our first Christmas as a family of four! Since one of my favorite parts of the holidays is simply slowing down and enjoying time at home, I thought it would be fun to start a new holiday tradition with my family.
I decided to give everyone a pair of Christmas PJs to make memories in this year. I headed to Old Navy and was able to find the same pattern for each member of the Scout Fam in a different style (including hubby!). I really liked this red and black buffalo check pattern because it’s Christmassy, but you can still wear it throughout the cold months after the holiday has passed. Plus, it’s flannel so it’s super cozy.
I put London in a baby doll nightgown and some striped black and white socks. I put Rio in a patterned onesie (similar), and he was so snuggly I didn’t want to hand him off to hubby. But we both agreed to take turns holding him like a pair of pajama-clad diplomats.
There is nothing better than waking up during the holiday break and staying in your pajamas all day long, watching movies, baking cookies, relaxing with holiday music on in the background while the kids play with their toys. I can’t wait to dress up the kids in their pajamas and spend Christmas morning lazily opening gifts. Cheers to year one of a new tradition! We’ll see how long LS will think it’s cool to match her little brother.
