When you think of faux fur, you probably think of a coy Hollywood starlet leaving an exclusive event or mysteriously wealthy old women who meet for bridge club with a side of gossip. But lately, the fur trend has been so prominent that pieces with fur details are casual enough for your everyday hustle and affordable enough for all budgets. The trim is equal parts elegant and playful, which makes it fun to mix with casual separates like denim or sneakers.
I bought this glamorous Maje coat while I was down in Miami, and I got a stellar deal because it was 70% off (similar). Since we’ve most likely got a solid six more weeks of winter ahead of us in The Big Apple (groundhog pending), I’ve already gotten a good amount of wear out of it and can save it for next season too. I love the rich navy color and the faux fur around the collar makes a sophisticated statement. In order to mix high and low fashion, I paired the classy coat with a pair of light wash Levi’s.
This navy Julianna Bass turtleneck also plays on the furry trend with black, feathered polka dots (similar). If you want to keep your jeans + sweater combos interesting, look for knits with spunky designs or attractive colors. You’ll be all warm and cozy without meriting a name tag that says “Hello, my name is Mrs. Boring”. Finally, I slipped on these Malone Soulier black leather booties with a skinny buckle detail and a pointed heel. I tossed a red Furla crossbody over my shoulder to keep me hands-free for baby Rio…and maybe more shopping bags.

Many of you guys know that I headed to Miami with the Scout Fam for a few days of sun, sand, and of course, shopping over winter break. A lot of winter items were on sale because -surprise, surprise – Floridians don’t need quite as many coats and sweaters as New Yorkers. I had to stock up on some trendy pieces I hadn’t gotten around to buying yet. It was a smart move in a fashion and financial sense seeing as I ended up returning home to the lovely and persistent New York blizzard.
I figured a lot of you are still trapped in cold climates and battling the brutality of winter. So if a trip to Florida isn’t in your forecast, I took the liberty of scouring the web for some stellar deals on warm weather apparel. Check out my separates and outerwear picks above so you can live out the rest of the season in style and then stow away your staples for next year.
Stay warm out there, and don’t be afraid to mix plush fur fabrics with your favorite pair of blue jeans. Anything goes.
