Find Your Perfect LWD (Little White Dress)

Haven’t you heard? The little black dress is out and its more lighthearted, casual cousin is in. Audrey Hepburn popularized the LBD and, of course, it will never go out of style. But as the jackets you see on the subway get lighter and the rays spilling through your office window get brighter, you’ll want your wardrobe to follow suit. That’s where your new wardrobe bff comes in. Enter: the little white dress.

Your closet should have some sort of equilibrium. You can’t always wear wild paisley shirts and electric colored separates, but repping neutrals 24/7 is just plain dull. When shopping for timeless pieces that will be worn often, I prefer clothing with details that add some personality. I snagged this white cotton dress (similar) online from, and I have to say I feel great about my investment. It’s a simple concept – a neutral, cotton, flowy dress – but the cut and details give it the right amount of flare. And in this case, I opted for some actual flare. I love that this dress reads like a button-up cotton blouse, but instead of a shapeless silhouette, it has an asymmetrical hemline. The crisp collar says “I’m in my Sunday best,” but the ruffles at the bottom say “who’s down to cha-cha?”

I paired the LWD with my Malone Soulier black booties (similar) and round frame sunglasses. The Louis Vuitton kimono bag adds an extra touch of sophistication. This classic ensemble is perfect for spring Saturday brunches or shopping in the city. Preferably both at the same time and maybe some cha-cha-cha-ing when the sun goes down. You know, whatever floats your boat.

I’ve rounded up some of my favorite little white dresses on the market right now and linked them for you here.
