Rocking Bold Colors with Confidence

Hey everyone! In case you’re struggling to get into the workweek groove after the Monday holiday, I thought I’d literally brighten up your day with my outfit.

Alright, alright. I know what you’re thinking. “Sai, black and neutral colors are your jam. Did you a.) have a brain transplant b.) undergo hypnosis or c.) get abducted by aliens?

The answer is d.) none of the above. I saw this wild look that is completely unlike me and decided that I should step out of my style comfort zone and try something new. Fashion Week is still influencing my outfits, and I’ve been feeling pretty gung-ho about experimenting with new styles. Hence the preppy silhouette and brilliant colors you’re seeing here.

When I first saw this color combo, my gut instinct was “purple and orange? That sounds like a recipe for disaster.” But the more I looked at the outfit the more it swept me up, and now it’s safe to say that I traded my old beliefs for the glamorous colors of this Gucci blazer and trouser combination.

These electric purple Gucci GG Marmont flares are everything. I love the way the purple pants are gently pleated in the front, flare out in a seventies fashion at the bottom, and the length is right on trend. Cropped pants have been everywhere lately because they eliminate awkward length scruples between your shoes and your pants. They can both be stars of the show. The iconic double G belt warrants a tucked blouse or some sort of reveal so the stylish detail makes a cameo. I have to say bright purple pants are not the most versatile garment staple, but we all need a wild pair of bottoms for daring says. I think Prince would approve as long as I put a little swag in my step.

Now let’s talk about this equally eye-catching floral Gucci blazer (similar). This citrus jacket with a violet, turquoise and lime floral pattern makes you feel like you’re bringing the tropics to work with you. I buttoned it all the way up and cinched the waist with a silky fuschia tie. I love the way the outfit has a brilliant color scheme from head to toe so that you have to decide which piece to focus on.

As for accessories, I had to stay true to the Gucci gang theme. Gold strappy stilettos and a metallic shoulder bag (shop gold) with gold hardware give the outfit an element of shine.

Whether you’re shopping for high fashion or fast fashion, being bold with color can be intimidating. But every now and then it’s good to stray from the norm and wear the unexpected. You’re under no obligation to keep dressing in the same way you did yesterday, last week, or even last year. You can redefine your style whenever you so choose. Keep ‘em guessing.
