5 Products For Curly Hair

5 products for taming Curly Hair for kids.

Taming naturally curly hair can be frustrating if you have no clue what you’re doing. I wanted to share 5 products that manage our hair with no fuss. I have extremely curly hair so it came natural when my daughter was born with the same tendrils.

Finding the right product comes with a lot of trial and error. I have literally wasted so much money on crap that did nothing for my hair! I often have to change my products once my hair becomes accustomed to what I’m putting in it. I’m not sure if this happens to anyone else or I’m just weird. Nevertheless, below are some tips that should do the trick for you. Let me know how they work!

Shampoo & Conditioner: Try KRLY Kids by Ouidad. I love their no tear shampoo and conditioner which really leaves Scout’s locks feeling clean and moisturized. I find that their products leave no residue and rinses out quickly. The conditioner is a 2-in-1 detangler and leave in conditioner. It can tackle knots, help prevent split-ends, frizz, breakage, and promote hydration! I’ve been using it for a while now and love the stuff.

Styling Products: We are currently hooked on Miss Jessie’s hair products which keep our hair frizz free, moisturized and gives off a healthy glow. This company makes several types of products for hair so I will highlight the 3 that we use.

Miss Jessie’s Multicultural Curls– I use this on Scout’s hair because her curls are not as coarse as mine. Her hair is a little softer and I find that this particular cream won’t weigh her hair down. It adds body and gives her little ringlets the perfect shine and bounce.

Miss Jessie’s Pillow Soft Curls Styling Lotion– This is the styling lotion that I use. It works perfectly on my hair to give it those pillow soft curls that I’m looking for. If you use too much, you will have a slight crunch in your hair, If this happens just pull the curls apart and fluff them a bit. The crunch should be gone almost immediately so you don’t look like you have ramen noodle hair.

Miss Jessie’s Baby Buttercreme– I love this stuff! If your hair is super dry and breaks constantly then this buttercreme will do wonders for you! My hair tends to absorb product and this moisturizer really helps to hydrate and maintain sheen with no-frizz.

If you’re confused about which cream to use for your hair, try purchasing the sample kit to get a feel for which one you might like best. Try this sample package here.

How to Maintain Bed Hair
We all usually send our kiddies to bed with clean pretty curls but are rudely awaken to a bird’s nest forming in sections of their hair. Simple solution, try adding a little of the KRLY kids 2-in-1 conditioner to a spray bottle with water. Spritz the section of the hair that has become knotted then finger comb or use a paddle brush to detangle that section. Add a small amount of your Miss Jessie’s products and allow to air dry. If it’s freezing outside then I suggest using a diffuser to dry the hair.

Thanks for stopping by and we hope these tips and products are helpful!

Thanks for this! I was just admiring your beautiful curls that you both have. My 1.5 year old daughter has hair that looks like it will be much like your daughter’s. It’s growing out and feels like it’s taking forever! But when it’s wet it’s so much longer than it looks. I struggle with figuring out if I should be doing more with it at bed as we let it air dry and I put a leave in conditioner in it. She still wakes up with a crazy look!! I know others with curly haired babes tie their hair back but I dont want to create any breakage. Do you do anything for your hair or your daughters hair outside of a leave in and air drying it at bedtime?

Hi and thanks for stopping by. It’s very hard to maintain curls when children are sleeping. Some people use bonnets but try using a satin pillow case. This should be gentle on their hair when sleeping. Hope this helps.

Thank you for this hair products information. After so many years and two boys later, I have a girl. My little girl has curls and my hair is fine, flat as a pancake. She wakes up with the craziest hair and I just didn’t know what to do. This was very informative so once again, thank you.

Thanks for the tips regarding what hair products you are using for your daughter’s hair. I have a bi-racial daughter with curly hair and I am always looking for new products that I can try to use to maintain her pretty curls. Her hair is like mine but a bit coarse I and I want to make sure that I am treating her hair the best I can. Your daughter reminds me so much of mine, she is just adorable.

I love these tips thank you so much, my three year old has a lot of hair and very curly. I have thin loose curls so it has been a learning process but she is reaching a point where she doesn’t like her curls and doesn’t like her hair out loose and i would hate for her to have that feeling growing up. She ask me to comb her hair, gives me examples of “straight pony tails” breaks my heart. i have started to wear my hair curly more often so she can see me embrace my curls, her hair drys very fast and looks super dry by the end of the day. I will order these products today and give them a try.

    thank you again
