We teamed up with Sephora and The Cut to dish about summers in the city and what I use to achieve a subtle natural radiant glow. I’m a huge fan of sun-kissed skin but prefer to hide under an umbrella when we’re outside in the heat. I have learned so much about protecting my skin with SPF which is why I always use a glotion that not only helps my skin radiate but protects it as well.
If you added us on snapchat then you know I’m a huge fan of Clarins Multi-active Jour. It acts as a multi-tasker to target fine lines and has SPF. Like a 3 in 1 which is perfect for the mom on the go such as myself!
Below are a few questions asked by The Cut so grab a coffee and get to know a little more about us! Don’t forget to head to The Cut to read more.
Where did you grow up, and where are you based? How old is Scout?
I was originally born in Los Angeles but moved to NY at the age of 2. I grew up in Brooklyn and can’t seem to shake the place since we still reside here. Scout is 4 going on 14.
1. How would you describe your approach to parenting?
A: I’m a very laid back parent and believe that children learn best from experiences. I’m not overbearing and encourage creativity and lots of play!
2. What was your ultimate goal when you started Scout The City, and how has that evolved?
A: Too be honest, I started STC as a hobby and only featured children’s fashion. I had no idea that anyone would be remotely interested besides my family and friends.
3. What’s your favorite thing about the summer season as a mom?
A: We live in a cold climate so we look forward to 93 days of summer every year! We enjoy the pop up pool, the park sprinklers, picnics in Central park and scouting what the city has to offer.
4. What’s your favorite thing about summer in New York, in particular?
A: I have a serious obsession with NYC so it’s extremely hard for me to pick just one thing. I love going out east in the warmer months to enjoy playdates with friends, cheese plates and good wine.
5. What does the average summer day with Scout look like?
A: They usually start very early for summer camp! She goes to ballet, sailing and gymnastics camps during the summer months so she’s usually exhausted by her activity filled days.
What was your ultimate goal when you started Scout The City, and how has that evolved?
Blogging was just a hobby and a creative outlet for me. I had no idea that it would evolve outside of my daughters street style photos. In two short years we have flourished into a full mommy/daughter lifestyle blog! We now create video content and inspire moms and kids alike. Stay tuned because we have some exciting stuff coming in the fall!
What’s your favorite thing about the summer season as a mom?
Taking my daughter to the park without putting on 10 layers of clothing! The winter season is a struggle to play outdoors so it’s so exciting when summer gets here because it’s a lot easier to have fun especially visiting rooftop pools around the city.

What are your top three favorite ways to spend a summer day with Scout?
There are so many things we love to do together! I’m a huge donut and Ice Cream fan so LS and I love to scout the city for different ice cream shops that we never tried before.
Pop up Pool
There is a pool that was created out of old shipping containers in Brooklyn. They added sand, beach umbrellas, food and music! It’s such a great place to hangout especially on karaoke night.
Central Park is such an amazing place to visit in the summer! We regularly visit to explore, play and have picnics.
What beauty product is most essential to your summer glow?
I’m really into Clarins glotion from Sephora. Not only does it protect me from the sun but it contributes to my summer glow by hydrating my skin and targeting fine lines. I keep one jar on my vanity and one in my purse for those busy summer days.
How do you approach summer style as an on-the-go mom? How would you describe your summer style, and how would you describe Scout’s?
I think comfort is key for both mom and kid. We both like the playground chic look which means shorts and a tee for me and a cool pair of culottes for her. I’m a huge sneaker fan and tend to get us matching pairs because anything is cute in smaller sizes. Our styles are very similar I just can’t pull off tutu’s as well as she can.
When it comes to dressing for a summer day, tell us your top three tried-and-true wardrobe staples. Why did they make the cut?
Cut-off shorts, a good Leather Jacket and Sunglasses!
Sunnies are a necessity in any wardrobe. They hide tired eyes from parenting and they give everything an elevated look. I’m a huge fan of cut off shorts in the summer. You can wear them with sandals, heels, flats or sneakers. The possibilities are endless!
A good leather jacket is a must! They’re seasonless and give any outfit an amazing glam effect. I usually purchase summer leathers and wear them at night when it cools off.
