Achieving what you want in life can be simple but sound completely unattainable at times. Today’s heart to heart is all about attracting the things we want in our lives along with some of my favorite daily practices that kept me on track.
My life has not always been peaches and cream and just like every one else, I have had my share of problems (Feel free to read my Get To Know Me post). Over the years I have grown into a better person who has learned to make wiser choices because I have learned about laws of attraction and having a positive mindset. Laws of attraction was first introduced to me when The Secret hit shelves back in 2006. This book is based on the law of attraction and claims that positive thinking can create life-changing results such as increased happiness, health, and wealth. When I first laid eyes on this book, I thought “what a load of crap” but had no idea it was the start of something new. Here is a quick story on how I started to believe in attracting things into my life.
Let’s take it back to 2006 when I was bartending in NY and decided I wanted to pick up and move to LA. I had no car and had no clue how I was going to purchase one. I wanted a brand new Mercedes ML truck that I was obsessed with. I put a picture of the car on my computer and locked it in as the screen saver on my phone (weird, I know). Subconsciously I was manifesting this car into my life and not realizing that I was. I looked at it every day so I thought about it everyday. I envisioned myself driving it and knew I had to have it. A few months later, I moved to LA and rented a car for a week and had no idea what I was going to do the following week. Before I left to LA I met a friend in NY who told me about a Mercedes Benz raffle that I entered. I seriously put no effort into this at all and thought it was a scam. Well ladies and gentleman, I won the damn raffle! I mean I won a brand new Mercedes Benz ML in the exact color, can you believe that?! I was shocked and thought I was being punked. I drove off the lot with 6 miles on my car and remember screaming as I drove my new car down the street, it was all mine! This sounds so crazy as I’m typing it but this was the start of something new.
From that moment on I began to be obsessed with ways to better my life. I realized that having a positive mindset can really help shape your days for the better. For example; If the first thing that you think about when you wake up is how tired you are and how you can’t wait for the day to be over, chances are, you’re not going to have a productive day. Instead, wake up feeling positive and think about the things that you are grateful for. envision what surprises and gifts the day has instore for you. Try doing a 5-10 minute guided meditation on positivity as soon as you wake up.
Here are some of my daily practices that help me achieve my goals and keep me focused
- 10 minute morning meditation (try free videos on YouTube)
- Recite Positive affirmations throughout the day
- Be grateful for what you already have in your life
- Write down what you want to attract in your life
- Set your passwords to numbers that you want to attract in your life
- Set screen savers to photos of what you want in life
- Surround yourself with positivity and other people who want to see you do well
- Read self-help/spiritual books
- Mediate before bed
Of course you don’t have to do everything on this list but these are some of the things that I’m a fan of. Make laws of attraction apart of your life. Anything you do for 28 days in a row becomes a habit so form a positive and healthy habit of some of these tasks. Remove yourself from negativity. If you have a friend who complains nonstop then unfortunately you’re going to have to tell him/her to knock off the self sabotaging or cut her off. You can’t grow if someone is holding you back. Listening to someone who is constantly killing your vibes is a terrible feeling, trust me I’ve been there.
Here are two books that I have read that are an easy read and don’t make you feel like you’re in some sort of weird cult. I know if you’re a newbie to this practice, a lot of the books on the market are a little to serious and can turn you off so let me know what you guys think about these books.
